WHAT IS A BIRTH DOULA?

A Doula is a helper. The role of a Doula is to provide support and guidance; we are here to attend to your needs and offer educated advice.

Typically, a Doula will meet with you 2 -3 times throughout your pregnancy. In these meetings, they will go over your birth plan with you, help you find the answers to any questions you may have, and help you get plugged in with some birth resources in your community!

When it is time for you to give birth, your Doula will come and support you, whatever your birth plan may be.

Now that you know some of the roles of a Doula, here are some things a Doula DOES NOT do:

  • Replace the role of your birth partner

  • Replace the role of your midwife or doctor

  • Take control of you, or your birth plan

  • Make medical decisions on your behalf
